|Colours and Their Meanings in 3rd-13th Century Baltic Dress/Author: Ieva Pīgozne – R.,2021. – 296 p.: il.|
The book deals with colours occurring in the textiles of the Balts in the 3rd–13th centuries in the area of present-day Latvia. It analyses three aspects of these colours: what they may have originally looked like, how they could have been obtained, and what their meaning in clothing could have been. In order to discover the colours used in 3rd–13th century Baltic clothing and the meaning of those colours, different groups of sources have been examined: archaeological sources, ethnographic evidence and folkloric evidence.
