From 8 November, 2022 the exhibition “Satversme 100+” (Constitution 100+) dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Constitution of Latvia (Satversme) is on display. It invites to explore how the historical backgrounds, including laws and “constitutions” since medieval Livonia, both affected and contrasted the modern Latvian Constitution of 1922. It also gives a detailed insight into the very development process of the Constitution in 1920–1922 by reenacting the discussions of its 34 authors on the most controversial articles, where their different visions of Latvia’s future collided. By using interactive and digital elements, our visitors will be able to understand how the Constitutional principles operate in everyday practice until present day.
